		For large breasts, breast reduction is performed under general anaesthesia. The size of the breasts is reduced and smaller breasts with a natural proportion and form are obtained. Scar formation is similar to that resulting from a breast lift. The breasts are swollen and tender for a time following the operation. The stitches are removed after one to two weeks.
